Project Description
Jeanie Cooper-Brown
Born near Durham, United Kingdom
Biography
Born near Durham in the UK and arrived in Australia in 1953. Jeanie is a modernist painter. She creates a unique style of representational art, abstracted into its most basic shapes and colors.
I initially trained as an art teacher and then went on to train as a graphic designer at Prahran
College. I worked as an illustrator before focusing full time on my art when I acquired studio
space at Kilda Bowling Club Studios in 1990. I kept that space for 10 years then worked from my
home studio. I am now based at an independent studio in Cheltenham.
My work uses a variety of techniques and art materials exploring different themes using whimsy,
narrative and imagery.
