Project Description
Ginette Wang
Born in Taiwan
Ginette was born in Taiwan, grew up in New Zealand and had lived and worked in Hong
Kong, Taipei and Auckland before settled in Melbourne. She is an international multi-award
winning artist, illustrator and published author.
She is well-versed in many media. Her mixed culture background had a profound influence in
her art creation. Combining her Western and Chinese painting as well as her Chinese
Calligraphy skills, she creates artworks with strong emotions – they can be peaceful as they
can be bold and exuberant.
Her strong passion in art started since she was a child and the skill sets she developed over
the years have led her thriving in different media and develop her unique styles. She enjoys
painting a wide range of subjects, from impressionistic watercolour landscapes, urban scenes,
boats, animals, portraits to bold abstract mixed media large size paintings.
Great masters like Caravaggio, Monet, Miro, Gaudi, Degas, Kandinsky had great influence
on her. Music, life, philosophy and culture are the main sources of her inspiration. Her
artworks evolve organically from impressionistic to abstract and surrealism. She loves to
design her paintings by using contrast and tensions between colours, shapes, textures, tones to
create a sense of movements, space and energy flow. Every piece of artwork is unique and
timeless.
She has won many awards internationally, including the First Prize in the Watercolour
category at the Auckland Royal Easter Art Show 2016. In 2021, she was awarded one of the
“Top 100 artists” by China Art at the recent online exhibition in China.
Her artworks have been exhibited and held in private collections locally and
internationally. Several of her paintings has been in permanent collection of Château
d’Orquevaux art collection in France as well as in Xian Yang Art Association
In 2019, she has been invited by the Xianyang Culture and tourism Bureau to exhibit at ” In
